Sapthaswara is a premier institution dedicated to the preservation and propagation of Carnatic Vocal music, serving as a vibrant bridge between the timeless traditions of the past and the aspiring musicians of today. Founded and led by Smt. Srimathy Sriram, the school is built on the philosophy that music is far more than a mere performing art; it is a sacred discipline that harmonizes the mind and soul. At Sapthaswara, students are not just taught to sing compositions; they are mentored to understand the intricate nuances of South Indian classical music through a curriculum that emphasizes both technical precision and soulful expression.

Meet the Founder

Srimathy Rajagopalan

Srimathy’s musical foundation is deeply rooted in a prestigious family legacy, beginning her journey under the profound influence of her grandfather, the late Sri C.S. Ramanujam Iyengar, a noted violinist and disciple of the legendary Maestro Vidwan Mysore T. Chowdiah, as well as her maternal grandmother, Smt. Rama Veeraraghavan, who studied under the venerable Mudikondan Venkatrama Iyer. To further refine her artistry, she pursued advanced training from a constellation of Carnatic stalwarts, including Smt. Raji Srinivasan, Achaarya Choodamani Late Sri A. Sundaresan, Smt. Leelavathi Gopalakrishnan, and Anayampatti Sri G. Venkatasubramanian, while continuing her quest for excellence today under the guidance of Thiruvarur Sri Girish.
